Not Funny and Badly Acted.

Anyone who thinks this film works because it highlights the nationalism of Japan is living in the past themselves. The film is full of absurd racist comment trying to show up a state of mind but just comes across as offensive.

The acting by nearly all the cast is appalling. Some of which is done on purpose admittedly however I had to stop watching half way through just to have a break from one of the dullest, useless films I have watched for a long time.

I would suggest anyone even tempted by this film should have a back up choice otherwise they might have a very spoilt evenings of entertainment.

Low Budget Charmer

Oddball romantic comedy with insight into the lives of every day people. The love triangle aspect of the story was much more compelling than the office politics. I particularly related to the woman character who is torn between her irresponsible husband and a more trustworthy older guy. The pacing is uneven but ultimately the characters won me over. I enjoyed the quirky supporting characters that gave the film more energy. The soundtrack was moving and energetic as well. The low budget quality of the film hurts it in places, but for the most part those things were easy to overlook. All in all, the movie left me with a good feeling. I saw it in Dallas for the cast and crew screening and would watch it again if it were available on DVD.

Not sure why people think it's bad

Netflix recommended this movie to me. (That should tell you what kind of movies I watch.) And I actually enjoyed it. No it wasn't high budget, but I thought it was funny. What can I say, boobies and crude humor make me laugh. As you may have guessed, I watch a lot of these kinds of films, and I mean A LOT of these kinds of films, and this is pretty much the rank and file of the genre. Plus, I thought it was sick that the puppet master dude from Heroes was in it. (I met him at comic con and he was the coolest.) I get the feeling that the other reviewers are quite a bit older than me and aren't really the kinds of guys that would normally watch this type of film. If you enjoy immature National Lampoon types of movies, then I recommend this movie.

The worst movie of 2008

I can't believe I sat through this atrocious movie at the cinema. What was I thinking? I'm still regretting the decision to take the time out to see this load of garbage at the CINEMA of all places.

The whole movie is just a recycled plot of comedies such as American Pie, Animal House, Van Wilder, Superbad and Old School.

Maybe the first 15 minutes were slightly funny. The rest of the movie was just disgusting. The jokes and one liners were embarrassingly unfunny, and most of the scenes made me want to lose my appetite. Won't describe them to you, but believe me - it is really disgusting. Most of the comedy would not look out of place in a restricted pornographic movie. I'm cringing thinking about it right now.

I'm sorry I wasted $10 on a ticket for this. I can't believe I saw this at the cinema. Gee....I should have come at another time and saw some other decent movie at the cinema.

That had to be the worst movie I've had the misfortune of watching in 2008. I'm surprised this was not sent directly to DVD.

Overall: Atrocious and disgusting movie that is not even funny. You'll be regretting it if you watch this.

A Must See

True Love, I truly enjoyed and LOVED this movie. It was fun, funny and inspirational. I just saw it on DVD. How did I miss this one it's a winner! I mean Flex was "That Guy". I wanted to marry him. This was my 1st time seeing him as a straight leading man and he pulls it off. I thought Tangi Miller was the best ever and I was a Felicity head too. A fearless woman who only fears her Nana. Thank You for giving women of color range in your work and she looks great! Tasha Smith was a Blast! Aloma Wright was priceless as Nana. This cute romantic comedy is "A Must See". Oh and the new comer Marcus Patrick is worth the surprise ladies...True Love. Karen

'On Evil Grounds' is a great popcorn fun flick to watch! The genre being grindhouse/a bit horror-thriller/comedy delivered in a 70's Italo-Western look, I enjoyed watching this independent movie. What really caught my attention though, was the fact - I happened to learn about it afterward - that the apparent budget was only 50K (ok,...Euros, but still)! It did catch my attention, because the on screen production value compares to that of much higher budgeted films. Me, being an independent filmmaker myself, I have to give 'hands up' to the crew for achieving this. I suppose the reason it only gets a high 7 out of 10 from me has mainly to do with the script!
