A good low budget movie

Rishi Kapoor is there that was my main reason for watching thz movie, but its a good movie, and starts with an Internet Dating concept, a boy name Vicky loves Neha, daughter of Mr Vishal(Satish Shah), Mr Vishal told him that he(Vicky) has to find a good job in a week then only he will give his approval for the marriage. Finally he get a good job with a cool Boss Mr Kochar(Rishi) but Mr Kochar is very much intereseted in his Girlfriend. Now here the twist come as Vicky Friend give him a idea, and there the story turns comic. This movie shows the concept "a lie cost u a lot". Vicky(Akshay) is a good actor that he has shown in this movie, Neha(namita) is average, Kochar(Rishi) shows his comic skills and he is really superb with a wife(Shoma Anand) who is a TV serials fan. Satish Shah is good, there is another character in the movie, don't know his name, He is Vicky's Friend, he shines in a very small role. Go for this moovie, you get everything Comedy, Romance, Action.

Ken Marino and David Wain deliver ridiculous comedy

This movie has Jeff Reigert (Paul Rudd) introducing ten stories, each one corresponds to one of the Ten Commandments. Each one is like an extended sketch from a comedy show. I find most of them just run on and on.

With all the top rate acting talents, the most important people are the writing team of Ken Marino and David Wain. Their humor is wildly inappropriate and deliberately so. They don't always do it for me. A lot of times, I find they do ridiculous for ridiculous' sake. I like them when they anchor their stories more in reality. That's not the case in this movie. This is mostly unfunny as they flail away with one over the top concept after another. I did smirk a few times.

Glimpses of superb talent

I wasn't overly impressed by this movie, mostly because of the script. Hollywood is not very imaginative when it comes to think outside the box, thus all films follow the magic and boring formula of "a beginning, a middle and an end". And when Hollywood decides to go wild and add something else to that concept, it usually ends up spoiling the movie. They did it in this flick. I'm not about to reveal anything but it has to do with Jason Biggs character.

Still, the movie has it's moments. All ghost movies has that in common that there comes a time when a medium or similar relates what the ghost is saying to a loved one who can't see it. We saw it done better in "Ghost" with Demi More, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg, and more recently in much funnier movie "Ghosttown", with Ricky Gervais. This movie has that scene too, but the disappointing script passes over it too quickly and with not much result for the plot.

The highlight of the movie is the acting of two leads; Paul Rudd and the surprisingly funny Lake Bell.

I've long had a growing admiration for Rudd, who has developed a style similar to that of Chevy Chase at his best. If ever a serious production of sequels to the Fletch movies gets a green light, the casting agent would do wisely in considering Rudd.

Lake Bell is rather new to me, and I was severely impressed by her comedy talent. She could easily be pictured in over-the-top comedy things and take on a female lead over Jim Carreys character in "Dumb & dumber" or Ben Stillers in "There's something about Mary". The Farrelly brothers could have a new star in her.

In conclusion, this film was watchable. "Ghosttown" is a better movie in all considerations, but Rudd and Bell are a joy.

Review :

Very funny and insightful comedy

This is one of the few romantic comedies that speak to the "everyman". Most romantic comedies are "chick flicks" while this one is definitely geared towards men. Every guy that sees this can relate to at least one moment and recall when it happened to them.

The main character speaks to the inner dork in all of us that we try to keep hidden but continually finds ways to pop out at inopportune moments. It is those moments that you laugh about but years later. You like to see it happen to someone else so you know that it isn't just you. I related to the main character. I felt his pain. I found myself muttering, "been there", numerous times during the movie.

There needs to be more movies like this. Guys don't just like watching things blow up. They like watching other guys strike out with women.

A really funny movie that people with and without kids can enjoy

I just saw this film at a screening and it is awesome. I laughed out loud and found myself quoting the movie with friends for days after. Lines like I am not a genius and naming Alex Trabec as one of the great geniuses was very cool. I am excited to buy it because this is one of those movies like Christmas Vacation that you find yourself watching even when its not Christmas. I think it is cool that Shatner is on it because isn't he Jewish? He did a really great job and he really ads to the pacing of the film to help it never seem to slow. Make sure you really pay attention to the artifacts those were a crack up. The cool thing about this movie is I think everyone will like it whether they have kids or not. I like the feel of the film as well because it kind of has that office sort of feel but they make some of the funnies moments when they are interviewing the characters. The wife is awesome make sure you pay attention to what his wife does when he is explaining about gravity I laughed out loud. Anyway it is a great film I give it 4 stars.

Jhat Maangni + Pat byaah = Honeymoon Travels revisited

A common man would just write off Just Married as another Honeymoon Travels Ltd. While the latter got attention owing to the tag "makers of Don", the former largely went unnoticed. Similarities are many and no two ways to that. Both have a single elderly couple in the group and both have surprises hidden under the Pandora's box. However believe me

• this movie is a realistic take on subject and, the emotions,

predicaments and frustrations are handled deftly.

Fardeen – Esha track:: One word "excellent" and you can almost identify with both immediately. Hog the limelight big time owing to which the other couples go out of focus.

Bikram Saluja - Perizaad:: Track is good and spills beans at the beginning.

Mukul Dev - Sadiya Siddiquie track:: Needed more screen time. Plus there was no addition to the main track.

Raj Zutshi - ????:: Hardly remember anything about it. Should have just edited out.

Satish Shah - Kiron Kher:: Very much believable – provide screen relief. Folks get ready, we are all going to look like them in a few years.

The songs are good carrying the usual Gulzar touch but strangely not popular as they ought to be.

And the climax.... was it warranted? Does it have to be OTT - Bollywoodish every time? Can't it just be a silent realisation?

Finally about the director Bosky Gulzar – just like others I have seen her work with microscopic eye. Being Gulzar's daughter is a daunting task indeed. I was expecting her to go one-notch up post-Filhaal, but now I am confused. Regardless, she handled the delicate subject very sensitively and should be applauded for that. Lets see what Dus Kahaniyaan has in store.

Bottomline:: She sure has talent.

PS: Both Meghana and Vishal Bharadwaj draw creative input from Gulzar – strange!

Good battle of the sexes

While I haven't seen the first movie yet, I had a chance to see the sequel on DVD. It's interesting to see that men are the same in China as they are I would guess everywhere. Sneaking around finding elaborate ways to cheat on their faithful hard working wives (one wife complains her husband hasn't had sex with her in 3 years and 8 months maybe since all he does is have sex with call girls). The wives ask the ninth auntie what they should do and she tells them to go out and fool around to save the marriage(s)! So the wives go to a hotel to have some fun but get recognized a lot and end up going to Macau to a strip club where they party with dancers then go off to private rooms with masked men. The husbands show up and find a way to switch places with the masked men and (of course) end up in the private rooms with their wives. This leads to them discovering how unhappy their wives are and in the end they are all together (as a group) again but the wives are still trying to find out if the husbands are cheating and the husbands guess what? They are still making plans to go to call girls. While I was very impressed with Infernal Affairs (one of the husbands played the head bad guy in that movie) this I really doubt will be remade as a big budget American film by a major director. I don't think Americans would be as amused by cheating husbands call girls and wives trying to catch them cheating. Might be hilarious stuff in China but don't think it translates well to American films. And we have Desperate Housewives for this kind of stuff anyway.

I heard someone say 'it is better than Collateral'.

Killer is an awful copy of an amazing Hollywood thriller Collateral (2004) starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise.

To call Killer awful would be too charitable. This Bollywood film is all lows and no highs.

If you haven't seen Collateral, Killer might even strike you as an unconventional Bollywood film. But if, like us, you have seen the edge-of-the-seat Hollywood film, Killer will come across as a distasteful piece of work.

Like Collateral, Killer is the story of a cab driver and a hit man who hires a car for a full night and forces the cabbie to drive him from one hit to another.

As the cab driver Max, Jamie Foxx dazzled us with his extraordinary passion and superb dialogs.

Killer's biggest disappointment is Emran Hashmi's totally inadequate performance as the cab driver Nikhil Joshi. Emran just fails to bring the verve and explosive energy that Jamie Foxx brought to his role in Collateral.

While Collateral is set in Los Angeles, in Killer all the action happens in Dubai.

The final 20 minutes or so in Collateral when Tom Cruise goes to kill his last victim - the female prosecutor (who was earlier in the evening a passenger in Jamie Foxx' cab) - was riveting. We found the last 20 minutes in Killer to be distressing. The ending, particularly.

Jamie Foxx' metamorphosis from a scared, cowering, average cab driver into a possessed soul determined to thwart Tom Cruise from killing the prosecutor was sheer pleasure to watch. Emran Hashmi's metamorphosis was sheer torture to behold.

Irfaan Khan throws in a much better performance as the cold-blooded contract killer Vikram as he goes around Dubai knocking off witnesses scheduled to testify against Mafia don Jabbar.

Nisha Kothari has a limited role but is all right as the voluptous nightclub crooner Rhea.

Yet again, Killer proves the poverty of ideas plaguing Bollywood.

Collateral was a fine thriller. Killer is a total stinker.

Fun and embarrassing

Colin Nutley is back with a film that finds a big audience. I think maybe it's his best film since his big success Änglagård. Many (divorced) middle-age women will surely love the film. Anyway they did in the audience I watched the film in.

Marie Lundqvist is as usual a magnificent actor. She can act any feeling in a very convincing way and her appearance makes you somewhat forget the obvious weaknesses in the script. On the whole the acting is god and the scenes seems to be improvised in usual Colin Nutley - manner. This makes most scenes very authentic if often surrealistic.

The film makes you laugh at a lot of funny and embarrassing situations, but offers little but confusion about how to handle your life likewise with the people in the film. It's just quite good entertainment for the moment. Women and sisterhood is at the center of the film. Men don't get much credit and Nutley also takes the opportunity to make a friendly? attack on the film icon Ingmar Bergman.

More "The Sting" than Ocean's 11-13 -- and that's a good thing!

I loved this movie! The focus of this heist movie was on the characters' resourcefulness and cleverness, not on special effects. The clever dialogue, plot twists and the wonderful humor reminded me of the great classic "The Sting." I much preferred this film to the big-budget Ocean 11-13 series, which is too self-important, and I found the characters far more charming and easy to root for. While I am not Latina, I am very familiar with the works of the three stars, Varoni, Colunga and Lisazo, and they were the reason I went to see this film. They did not disappoint me. The entire ensemble is great and very believable, although Oscar Torre and Miguel Varoni steal a few scenes. Fernando Colunga always stands out b/c he's so darn HOT! He's also very good here. On the other hand, my friend's heart palpitated every time S. Lisazo and G. Toro came on screen. Ivonne Montero is very funny in a role very different than many of her telenovela ones. All around, definitely worth seeing!

A quirky and heroic attempt, but uneven and needing polish

The Saxons were famous for North Sea piracy. In the 5th Century, there was an area of England known as 'litora Saxonica', owing either to the liability to Saxon attack or, as some think, the establishment of Saxon colonies there.

Saxon is also the name of a grim, modern-day council estate in London. A place where people are under constant threat from brutal bailiffs.

Fast Eddie just wants to get away. To Spain, preferably. But fresh out of the nick for killing a bailiff, trouble seems to follow him. Like the £500 he borrowed before going inside. It's now turned into £10,000. Loan shark Sammy removes one of Eddie's eyes. Just to keep things running smoothly. Now Eddie looks a bit of a prat with a bandage over one eye. Linda, an old sweetheart, wants nothing to do with him. But she needs a favour a too. So Eddie gets hired as her private detective to track down missing millionaire husband Kevin. A job that soon gets him into even more bother.

Saxon erupts onto the screen and it takes a little longer than usual to get comfy again in your seat. Is it a thriller? A comedy? A violent slice-of-life soap? Or a western, a fantasy-adventure, transported to an unlikely setting? Nothing seems to fit. Eddie has the air of a Don Quixote. He hasn't had the time to find his feet before trouble finds him. He tramps about uneasily. By turns, an object of fear and ridicule.

With such uncertain genre signals, one of the difficulties with Saxon is believing in the characters. They seem reality-challenged without being fully surreal. High production values could bring off such an uneasy marriage in O Brother Where Art Thou, but I felt Saxon expected a lot of me to suspend disbelief in the face of such uneven characterisation. There are moments of touching brilliance, such as when Eddie and his mother meet up. In the dark, she doesn't recognise him. She calls out her services of the night - before they come face to face in mutual pain and embarrassment. At other times we have to give it a big benefit of the doubt to avoid the feeling that we are watching acting-by-numbers.

What is so sad is that there are so many dazzling ideas here, so much talent that simply hasn't been polished into a sufficiently finished end-product. The film's website describes it as made with "hope, love, half a shoestring & private equity." Actors have received minimal fees and deferred payment.

Eddie is remarkably elevated to a protagonist of almost mythical qualities by the end of the film. Greg Loftin (who debuts as director, writer, executive producer, editor, and casting director) accomplishes a supreme feat of pulling his many larger-than-life characters together in a clever and strangely satisfying finale. His first feature is an undoubted accomplishment. People have worked very hard to get it to the point where it has been nominated for the Edinburgh International Film Festival Michael Powell Award. The best reason to see it might be to witness such raw talent rearing its head on a non-existent budget. But it might also leave audiences feeling they have paid to see a stupendous student-level film rather than a movie worthy of mainstream release.

As with any review, the opinion is only that of one reviewer. Saxon's quirkiness may hit you like a breath of fresh air, its originality enliven a jaded palate or two, or it might prove me wrong and win the Michael Powell. Or maybe I'm right and, in spite of the undeveloped qualities hiding beneath the surface, Saxon remains a missable low-brainer.

Excellent movie - highly recommended

This is an excellent movie with great local shots of the Memphis area (especially appealing if you've spent any time in the Bluff City).

The action is non-stop, the plot is intriguing, and the dialogue is consistently clever and intelligent. Much in the style of "Get Shorty" but with a Maamphis twist - "Divine Manipulation of the Threads" is totally unique and provides entertainment and solid laughs throughout the movie.

You walk out of the theater thinking of all the people you can tell about this unknown "jewel" of a movie.
